Main Uses: Potassium Amyl Xanthate is a strong collector, mainly used in flotation and highly selective for non-ferrous metal minerals without requiring additional flotation reagents.

Used as a collector for flotation of non-ferrous minerals that require a strong collector but not highly selective. It is an effective collector for sulfide minerals including copper sulfide, zinc sulfide, nickel-copper sulfides, and gold-bearing pyrite.

This type of potassium is used for extracting ore quantities conditioned in water solution with xanthates, then agitated in flotation cells. Xanthates can be added in liquid or solid form.

Xanthates attach minerals to air bubbles, causing them to float to the top of the flotation cell. Once reaching the surface, bubbles form a layer that is collected in a trough, and the remaining material can be reused.

Additional recovery or disposal may be applied. Most xanthates are consumed in this process, and multiple flotation stages may be required for different ores.

Potassium Amyl Xanthate (PAX) and Sodium Isobutyl Xanthate (SIBX) are traditional thiol collectors widely used in major and selective flotation of nickel and copper sulfide ores.
